Inns
and
Outs
some of our favourte places to eat and drink in both Malmö and Copenhagen.
Malm
Bullen - två Krögare
A place very close to our hearts and where Frida used to work. It’s got a nice relaxed pub atmosphere that does some of the best meatballs in Sweden (we will die on this hill).
Metro
Right in the heart of the old workers district, Metro is a great bar with a fantastic kitchen. Great for a drink and dinner on a summer evening. Möllan has a lot of great bars and restaurants nearby as well.
Opopoppa
A small and rustic pizza place that does some of the best pizza in town. Along with it being just a nice place to grab a drink.
Mikkeller Moriskan
In the summer we’re always in here when the sun is out, as is half of Malmö. One of our absolute favourite places for a summer drink with great atmosphere.
Far i Hatten
Another great spot in Folkets Park that also does great pizza. It’s a great little place that’s a bit of a sun trap all day.
Julie Vinbar
If you want more small plates and an award winning wine list this is a beautiful spot in Malmö’s old town.
Freden
Freden opened last year and quickly became a regular spot to meet friends. With a vibe like ‘another living room’ it’s a relaxed place to eat or have a drink.
Ava Vinbar
A great little wine bar across the road from Freden. Lovely food and a great selection of wine that’s in a nice square away from a lot of tourists.
BiSe
BiSe Mat & Vinbar is opposite the Malmö Live hotel and is a top spot for both wine and their Southern European Menu.
Moosehead bar
Sat on the edge of what was voted Scandenavia’s prettiest square, Moosehead is a good place for a beer. It’s a bit touristy (and the prices match that) but it’s nice in the summer as there’s a lot of outside seating.
Saluhallen
The Malmö foodhall is located about 5 minutes from the Malmö Live hotel and offers a wide range of good street food along with seafood, pasta and deli options. It’s a great place for lunch if you don’t know what you want.
Bishops arms
While it might look like a regular chain pub from the UK, The Bishops Arms is nice for a beer with some great outside seating if you can get a table. They’ve got a decent range on tap here as well.
Scandwich
Easily one of the best sandwich places in Malmö that’s in the middle of the old workers district (pretty much opposite Metro). A great bar/restaurant with a relaxed vibe.
L'enoteca gårdsservering
Perfect for drinks outside in the sun and right in the middle of Malmö’s old town. They do a good Aperol Spritz that’s great for a break after exploring the city.
Marvin
Sat on the corner of Davidshall, one of Malmö’s nicest squares, Marvin is a great place for the english speaking community. Good beer, Pies (in the winter), English muffins, Scotch eggs and Sausage rolls means we’ve never left disappointed.
Copenhagen
Pølsevogn
You can’t go to Copenhagen without seeing these in popular tourist areas. After a long day or heavy evening nothing is better than getting rød pølse on the way home. A decent one is outside Copenhagen central station.
Kanal-Cafėen
One of the most traditional Danish restaurants for Smørrebrød in Copenhagen. It’s small rooms and low ceilings really sell the older traditional atmosphere. Their Aquavit is optional but can power a small car, one with lunch is enough.
Kødbyen
The old art deco meatpacking district has so many great restaurants and bars it’s hard to pick just one. So we’d recommend the entire area! Perfect for a night out or dinner.
1656 Cocktail bar
From the outside this place is made to look like a just
a place to leave the streets’ bins. But as soon as you go in it opens up into a hidden 1920s style cocktail bar that’s got plenty to offer. We’ve never left disppointed. The gents toilet soundtrack is ‘unique’…
Nyhavn
This is the place you’ll see on most postcards from Copenhagen, it’s the street with the multicoloured houses on the canal. There’s plenty of lovely bars and restaurants along it.
TorvehallerneKBH
One of Copenhagen’s foodhalls and probably the most popular. There’s a great range of food to choose from but one of the best, most danish things, to order is the Flӕskesteg sandwich at Slagter Lund.
Jernbanecafeen
A nice little locals pub right next to the station, perfect for when you miss your train. We always come here on the way back to Malmö.
Pastis
Pastis always has a great french menu, lovely food and extensive wine list. One for when you want a longer dinner and a few more glasses of wine than you need.
Reffen
This is one of Copenhagen’s top spots in the summer. It’s always packed and one of the best sun traps in the city. With so many street food restaurants and bars it’s hard to leave at the end of the evening. It’s a little further out but well worth the journey.
